The mission of Bread for the City is to provide vulnerable residents of Washington, DC, with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We recognize that all people share a common humanity, and that all are responsible to themselves and to society as a whole. Therefore, we promote the mutual collaboration of clients, volunteers, donors, staff, and other community partners to alleviate the suffering caused by poverty and to rectify the conditions that perpetuate it.
VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers work directly with Bread for the City staff to serve our clients and foster an environment of dignity and respect. Whether packing grocery bags, conducting intake interviews, or sorting clothing, Bread for the City depends on our network of dedicated individuals to make sure we can help as many people as possible.
Bread for the City invites volunteers to come either as individuals or in an organized group.

N Street Village empowers homeless and low-income women to claim their highest quality of life by offering a broad spectrum of services and advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. The Village also provides affordable rental housing for low and moderate-income individuals and families.
VOLUNTEER
N Street Village could not operate without our dedicated volunteers. Volunteers help us continue to provide the best quality of care to the homeless and very low-income women in our community. It is our hope that volunteering with N Street Village provides you an opportunity, not only for service, but also to expand your understanding of the complexity of homelessness; an issue that affects us all. Please note that our meal serving opportunities are limited and fill up quickly. Please check our online calendars to see if our current needs. If you are interested in leading a class in the Wellness Center, we ask that you provide a syllabus for the course you would like to teach. Our most urgent need is for overnight supervision volunteers at N Street Village's Luther Place Night Shelter.
